Modern Challenges for our Young People
Being a teenager can be an exciting time for discovery, greater independence and opportunity however navigating the rollercoaster of adolescence can also be very challenging… dealing with emotions, relationships and changing bodies. The demands of school and the impact of the pandemic has lead to increased stress, anxiety, apathy and concentration issues with many of our young people.
In the UK today 1 in for 4 young people (aged 13-17) has a diagnosable mental health issue (NSPCC 2018). So, let's use yoga as a more holistic approach to supporting mental health and cultivating a positive body image!
We offer sessions specifically focused on using the breath to calm before exams and LGBTQ+ welcoming and neurodiversity affirming spaces too.
Why Yoga for Teens?
During the Formative Years, there is profound brain development - it's also a time when habitual tendencies and identities are forming and evolving. If we can introduce yoga at this age, and use it as a tool to navigate life, then the likelihood of sticking with it as well as the benefits moving into adulthood are far greater. Yoga can help teenagers to:

Foster an appreciation of your unique minds and bodies
Learn how to juggle the demands of life and how to relax properly
Not only does yoga provide a physical outlet, but it helps all people become more aware of themselves physically, by building strength, stamina and flexibility. Mentally & emotionally, it offers a safe space to regroup and switch off from other aspects of life. How often do you fully relax? Fully switch off from technology? From other people? From your busy thoughts? Yoga helps us learn how to relax.

At the moment we offer POP UP teen and tween sessions at weekends or during the holidays. These take different forms: teen only and family sessions where grown ups are also welcome.
