Yoga for Cancer in North Tyneside
Dealing with and navigating a cancer diagnosis and treatment is a deeply personal and challenging time. Side effects to treatment vary wildly but we are here to support you.
Whether it’s relaxation and time to breathe, or maybe it’s joint mobility and muscle strengthening as you build up different areas of your body.
Or perhaps it’s a safe environment where you can be around other people?
You don’t need to feel good to practise yoga, but we are here to support you.
Everything but the breath is optional and we explore techniques to assist the mind and the body.
How We Can Support
Studio Classes
Yoga for those impacted by cancer in Tynemouth
Studio classes every other Friday 11am - 12pm at Jasmine Yoga Tynemouth will begin in March, but open to book now.
What to expect:
We offer fortnightly yoga classes for anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis. We use yoga as a tool to support posture, breathing, range of motion and strength building. Different options are given throughout to suit your energy levels and the shape of your breath is far more important than the shape of a pose. Steph is there to guide you and hold space but she does not know how it feels to be in your body so she encourages a sense of kindness and self compassion.
We have stairs up to the studio. You’re welcome to borrow our equipment but you may prefer to bring your own yoga mat and blanket. If you would like to bring a loved one to support you, you are welcome to do so.
Price
We have a scale depending on your personal circumstances, £0 / £5 / £10 / £15, our typical studio classes are £10.
Private Classes
One-to-One Yoga Classes or Small Group Sessions
If you would like to organise a one-to-one with Steph either at home or at our studio, then drop us an email. Navigating life with a cancer diagnosis is different for everyone. Whether it’s physical or mental support, we can tailor a specific class to meet your needs and the side effects and aftermath of treatment.
If you are an organisation or charity, you may like Steph to come to you to lead yoga or mindfulness sessions that support the people in your community. These sessions can be organised in blocks with different focal points to connect with the mind, body, breath and emotions. Steph can bring equipment (mats, blocks, blankets, bolsters) or participants can bring their own if preferable. We clean equipment after it has been used.
